A new list of the top-rated isekai anime series, as voted for by Japanese fans, has been released. The list includes recent hits like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and longtime fan favorites like No Game No Life.

The Japanese entertainment website Minna no Ranking (Everyone’s Ranking) shared a list of its latest anime-themed rankings, as voted by anime fans online. From 1st place to 234th place, the new anime list ranks the most recommended titles of the isekai genre. Isekai, of course, is a genre of fiction where the protagonist is suddenly transported from their everyday life to a fantastical world. Usually, these “fish out of water” stories take place in a medieval-like fantasy world and follow the rules of role-playing video games more than real-life history.

In first place is That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, the 2013 light novel series that follows the adventures of a 37-year-old corporate worker reborn as a slime monster in a fantasy world. Fuse, the author of the slime fantasy series, revealed in the afterward for Volume 22 that the popular isekai was supposed to end at the latest release. However, due to encouragement by his editor, the series will continue, albeit with the end still within sight. While the light novel is coming to an end soon, anime fans still have lots to look forward to in the future. In addition to its Season 4 announcement, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is receiving a second theatrical anime movie set for February 2026.

After Nearly 10 Years, 1 of The Biggest Isekai Anime of All Time Is Finally Coming to Hulu

One of the best and most well-received modern isekai anime is finally having its first season added to a streaming service beyond Crunchyroll.

Second place belongs to Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, a popular but also controversial isekai anime that follows a problematic otaku reborn as a skilled magic user named Rudeus Greyrat. Although the series has earned critical acclaim for foregoing the self-applauding narrative that often befalls isekai-like stories, it has also received criticism for the polarizing actions of its main protagonist, such as his attraction towards children. In October 2024, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation lost its #1 spot to the Season 3 premiere of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is available to stream on Crunchyroll. “Corporate worker Mikami Satoru is stabbed by a random killer, and is reborn to an alternate world,” the official description reads. “But he turns out to be reborn as a slime! Thrown into this new world with the name Rimuru, he begins his quest to create a world that’s welcoming to all races.” Seasons 1-3 are currently available to stream, as well as the first theatrical anime movie and three-episode specials.
