Lamb skewers. Dill sauce. Cold beer. Welcome to western Tokyo’s most unexpected pub crawl.

Tama Machi Bar 2025 brings back its popular self-guided food and drink crawl—but this year with a Nordic twist. More than 30 bars, cafés, and izakayas across Tama City will be serving original dishes inspired by Icelandic cuisine. Think grilled lamb, buttery cod, creamy potatoes, and more, paired with drinks and enjoyed at your own pace.

Just grab a map, pick up a ticket set (¥4,500 for 3), and start hopping. Each ticket gets you one food-and-drink pairing. Whether you use all three at one spot or stretch them across different venues, the route is yours to explore.

This year’s Iceland theme builds on Tama City’s ties with Iceland, formed during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics when it served as the official host town. To celebrate the ongoing friendship, participating chefs took special classes in Icelandic cooking and were encouraged to get creative. The result? Miso-cured salmon, creamy cod gratin with local veggies, lamb with shiso and horseradish—you won’t eat the same thing twice.

You’ll also find Iceland-themed booths at ticket stations in Tama Center and Seiseki-Sakuragaoka, plus stamp rallies and mini prizes along the route.

Tama Machi Bar isn’t about speed. It’s about discovering neighborhood gems, chatting with locals, and eating food you never thought you’d find in Tokyo. Whether you’re a foodie, a bar crawler, or just curious about Iceland, this event is worth the trip west.
