To Japan’s Westernmost Island on the Ferry Said to Be Wild (My Experience Was Different)
Join me on a journey to Yonaguni Island, the westernmost point of Japan. I took the infamous ferry, said to be incredibly rough, but my experience was surprisingly calm. Come see what it’s like to travel to this remote and beautiful island.

incredible camera job! good job with the birds. you can really tell the water is blue when you get near port
Most western point in Japan; very impressive monument, I like that type not pretentious but stately. You flew from Yonaguni on a Canadian made plane, very cool. But you really could have used an ekiben, was a long day with no food.
Thank you so much for your videos!! Watching in Florida USA….. Is there any way that you could possibly spend more time showing us what's in a vending machine over there?? Just possibly showing us the different flavors that are available in Japan as opposed to the United States. Thank you and keep up the great work!!!
The ship was carefully maintained and clean, and the ferry building was average. The ferry company seems to have the right priorities.
Now, go get some curry!
What a fun day trip!! Thanks for sharing! Take care!!❤
You make great videos…I seriously enjoy watching them and relaxing! I spend a lot of time on YouTube…some content creators have it and some dont…you definitely have “it”!
amazing trip
I wonder if there are smaller Ferrys with sleeping quarters? Like the kind on a first class plane. I bet that would be super cozy.
I'm really upset… I was supposed to visit this island in june and my chance got ruined :_)
😂, I actually fill a cup half way with water in the bathroom and leave it in the cup holder to see how much the ship is rocking! 😂
Take off your clothes 🤣😂🤣 Great video STJ! 👍🏻👏🏻😊
Nice to see a little ferry as opposed to huge, and almost always completely deserted, overnight ferries.
I did not know that Japan streched so much. Thank you for the knowledge. 😊
From the snow in the north to the palm trees to the south, Japan is truly a beautiful country.
Thank you for the lovely video. I hope you got something to eat, finally 🙂 Looking forward to more of your travels. 🐻☕
Ferry?
More like a private yacht!
Nooo shrinkflation! Its so cruel! 😢
Nice to see you back on a ship again 😊
Thanks for always travelling and eating and sharing 🙏💜
Thanks for the video ❤😊
@3:38 I like how on the main cabin open seating area of a regularly "rocky" ferry route they've gone for a spotty green carpet, well played 🤢 Designer-san, i salute you 🙇♂😂
Isn’t this the island from Dr Coto’s clinic?
Thank you for another great video. Didnt you want to spend more time on Yonaguni Island, to see more of it, for example the sunset on the viewpoint you visited ?
I had no idea Japan's islands went that far. Lovely trip! thank you again!
Shrinkflation strikes again, even on ferry vending machines. Hopefully you managed to get something to eat for lunch along the way!
Great trip. Out of nowhere, you are already in Ishigaki, taking ferry trip to Yonaguni and back to Ishigaki again by flying, is there any video of your trip from Mainland Japan to Ishigaki? Looks like your trip is blessed, since the sea is calm and no sea rocking along the sailing.
10:26 – I choked badly at that bit
This isn't the right guy! Need to watch, Solo Solo Travel Japan!!😮
I had no idea that Japan extended to within visual distance of Taiwan. Amazing.
Have to take your word for it that it. So disappointed that I could not see any feet on the blue-footed booby.
What a quiet place
What beautiful islands! Some day, hopefully, I will be able to visit Japan and I would love to be able to visit both of these islands! Thank you for always putting out wonderful videos!
I love when you point out things like birds or other ships, it really feels like we’re on the journey with you. The ferry to Taketomi looks like the ones I’m used to here in San Francisco – “the best way to cross the Bay!” Maybe one day you’ll come try some international ferries!
Beautiful island ❤
I find it a little bizarre that islands so close to Taiwan are part of Japan which is more than 7x the distance away.

I think I might like to sit outside.
Is this where the "Japanese Atlantis" is? With all of the underwater 'steps' and stuff?
How does a ferry leave eight minutes early, have smooth sailing and arrive five minutes late? Thank you for taking us on another trip report.
Very short but lovely trip.
on Tuesdays and Fridays? twice a week? that is almost as bad as overland bus connections in Austria….
UV light in the trash container…while in Europe i am already happy when people do not feed their dogs at the restaurants….not kidding…..but Japan has no immigration policy, sadly!
Always a treat to accompany you!
5 min. late….that.s actually early in most other countries!
was that a Mitsubishi MU-2 type airplane( they are called differently nowadays and have been updated since the introduction a lot…) ?
