🥃❄️Nikka Whisky Est. 1934 Hokkaido Yoichi Heavy Snow on Sea of #Japan near #Russia

🥃❄️Nikka Japanese Whisky. Incredible, unique, strong, coal fired distilled, made of the snow melt cool Hokkaido Northern waters. I found the source! Yoichi Jan. 2025..

Fascinating story of the creator Masataka Taketsuru,, who came from a long line of saki makers, who in the early 1900s had a whisky dream. He traveled by steamboat over the Pacific to California, train over land of the US to NYC, steamboat again over the Atlantic to Scotland. Searching far and wide how he could be an apprentice at a real Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery. Finally finding a place learning the craft. Got married to a local. And him and his Scottish wife got back to Japan where he opened Nikka Distillery.

Very cool tour and factory especially in the heavy winter snow. Two tasting rooms. Museum. Bought some bottles at the shop. Saw the coal fired distilling process and historic buildings. The advertisement history was interesting with Western stars like Rod Stewart, Orson Welles, and more with 1950-80s interesting commercials. Love the King logo. Highly recommend. Saw the snowy beach with surfers on the way there, thinking about the other side Far Eastern Russia like Vladivostok.

A lot wasn’t allowed to be filmed but I hit record, tried some incredible whisky, and had my best distillery tour of my life.
