TOKYO (Xinhua): A traffic accident involving three vehicles occurred on an expressway on Saturday morning in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward, leaving a 2-year-old boy dead, local media reported.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, a truck rear-ended a passenger car that was slowing down due to traffic congestion, triggering a multi-vehicle crash.
The accident happened around 10:10am. local time. A boy seated in the back of the car was transported to hospital but was later pronounced dead, national broadcaster NHK reported.
The truck driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of negligent driving causing injury.
