Tokyo Stylez has dominated the hair industry for over a decade as a hairstylist and wig maker to the stars. Her impressive client list includes Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Kylie Jenner, Ts Madison, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and more. Tokyo has become a true force in hip-hop and celebrity culture.

In 2024, she stepped into the spotlight with her own WETV reality show, Wiggin’ Out with Tokyo Stylez, offering fans an exclusive peek into the world of high-end wig making for her A-list clientele.With a roster that reads like the Met Gala guest list, the world is only beginning to see the full scope of Tokyo’s magic. When asked about the origins of her success, Tokyo shares that her love for wig making began in Washington, D.C., through a powerful and personal connection.
“One of my friends named, Natalie, had a cancer organization, and she asked me if I knew how to make wigs for cancer patients or people who needed hair replacement.”
From that heartfelt beginning, Tokyo’s reputation for crafting beautiful, realistic wigs spread quickly—and the rest is history. Her rise, however, is about more than talent; Tokyo credits her success to being the full package and unapologetically commanding attention.
“When you see me I’m automatically drawing attention. I’m wearing crazy outfits. You automatically look at me. I use that as a tactic to draw attention to myself, to people who want to know who I am, what I do. I would be out and at these parties and events and draw their attention, all eyes on me. And then, of course, you have to have the talent that goes with it. So, it was just like it was the overall package for me.”
One of Tokyo’s standout moments came when she worked with Ts Madison, the multimedia mogul and one of her most notable trans celebrity clients. Madison appeared in season one of Wiggin’ Out with Tokyo Stylez, and Tokyo described the experience as deeply meaningful.
“When they told me that she was down to even do it, I was so honored because she’s done so many things in our culture and for our people. To be able to do something with her and to share a moment with our entire stand behind me and support me just as well as I support her behind almost everything that she does — it was like a surreal moment.
You know, our sisters, our LGBTQ sisters and families being together and making moments and continuing to impact others and fighting against what they say we can’t do.”
Despite her elite status, the Got2be brand ambassador remains a student of her craft, constantly learning from the next generation of creators—especially those on platforms like TikTok.
“It’s opening more and more doors and different techniques and different tricks, because even now, I mean, this new young generation has put me on to a few little things. You know, like it’s never too late to keep learning. So like I’m always down with the trends, I’m always following up, I’m watching everything.”
Tokyo has mastered the balance of staying ahead of trends, delivering flawless styles, and managing the schedules and preferences of multiple high-profile clients — all while avoiding the industry drama that often plagues the music industry. But navigating that space isn’t always easy.

“It gets very overwhelming sometimes because you, of course, you want to show that you’re loyal and step it well for your clients. So the ones who are loyal to you. But it just puts you in kind of like a nasty situation where it’s kind of like, okay, I can’t work with you because I know that you don’t like this person, or this person doesn’t like this person. So it’s like you have to play like, political. That’s like one of the biggest things with me that, like I deal with a lot is that no one really knows.”
She also pointed out the role fans play in intensifying feuds between female artists—something she has to navigate delicately as a stylist for several of them.
“They caused a lot of drama between a lot of these, these girls and people that I work with. So it’s just like even with them, like as long as you do something, they’re the first ones to push out the narratives and start this whole storyline.”
As a proud trans woman, Tokyo Stylez has built an empire — strand by strand. Her brand sits at the intersection of beauty, culture, and entertainment. With 1.5 million Instagram followers and a reality show under her belt, she shows no signs of slowing down. She’s currently working on her next big venture: a salon of her own.
“Stylez by Tokyo Salon in Miami is coming soon. I don’t know how soon, but I just relocated to Miami, and this is in the works, so, hopefully by the end of summer.”
This spring, Tokyo will also be sharing her experiences at the Hair Education Beauty Summit in Secaucus, New Jersey, on May 4–5. She’ll join Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Derek J and celebrity hairstylist Larry Sims — whose clients include Janet Jackson, Zendaya, and Wanda Sykes — for a conversation that promises to inspire and educate the next generation of beauty and hair professionals.
