Did you know there’s a roller coaster that only ran for one day? At Yomiuriland in Kawasaki (near Tokyo) Twist Coaster Robin opened with excitement—and crashed the same day. In this video, we dive into how such a massive failure happened, and why this ride never got a second chance. 1. And today I learned I've been pronouncing "trough" wrong my entire life. Always thought it rhymed with "though" but English sucks 😅

  2. In a way, you could say that Twist Coaster Robin is the "Titanic" of roller coasters, having had a catastrophic accident that doomed it during what was essentially its "maiden voyage".

  3. Konda in belgium has a very nice anti rollback, it uses eddy currents to keep fhe dog up while moving forward. When the car coms to a halt or rolls backward the eddy current drop the dog and it latches.

  4. What a pity that it did not operate anymore and finally dismantled it. It was an interesting layout different to all the other El Locos.

  5. There are actually two other coasters that ran for one day. A chinese corkscrew and jungle mouse coaster ran for 1 day at longshan park in zheijang china after an accident happened on a booster ride at the park on the first HOUR of the park opening

  6. The el-loco model was pretty flawed in design. The original was known for rollbacks on the final turn and the version at Warner Bros MovieWorld had an axle break at its highest point and apparently resulted in a significant design revision.

  7. Damn, I hope this doesn’t seal the fate of Yomimuriland. It’s been said that the Japanese public is extremely trusting so a breach of that trust means that whatever entity responsible for breaking said trust is basically dead in the eyes of Japanese consumers. I still want to ride Bandit!

  8. In china there was a ride that only had one “cycle” scream at longshan park. Coaster College did a video on it!

  9. I love Mumbo Jumbo at FlamingoLand!
It's fun to show up on an empty week day and go round the circuit more than once.

  10. What confuses me about this coaster is Sansei was no beginner in the amusement industry, so WHY does this coaster look like it was made in someone's shed? Only the trains look professionally done, everything else is mega janky.

Regarding Japan's sensitivity to ride accidents, while it's completely understandable that Do-dodonpa closed since the ride itself was causing injuries, I really really hope Eejanaika doesn't close. What happened was a tragedy, but to my understanding it wasn't the fault of the ride itself.

  11. Seems like a big waste not to try to reopen it with modifications even though it would be considered tainted after an accident. After all, didn't the Thunder Dolphin coaster have a significant accident and still managed to keep operating?

  12. Two days ago this randomly popped into my head and I was hoping I'd see this video at some point. That was trippy

  13. You should never be permitted to defeat the safety devices on roller coasters and make your own. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, just because it makes a lot of noise. The quote “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” really came to my mind here.

  14. Seems like a classic case of over-engineering a solution to remove a simple design used without fault for decades. Fixing a problem that isn't a problem.

  15. I’ve seen detailed photos of that track. It was jank. You think arrow and old vekoma transitions were bad. This one had that beat. Also if you look closely, you’ll see that if you kept your arm out of the train coming into the station on the right side, you would’ve lost your arm going through that fence next to the load platform. It was cheap for a reason.
