With cherry blossoms fluttering and ancient pagodas casting shadows, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior Pre-Fall 2025 collection married French elegance with 15th and 16th-century Japanese aesthetics, in collaboration with the artisans at Tatsumura Textile Co. It was a reverent, poetic collection, but what about the front row? The celebrity attendees offered a variety of takes—some serene, some sultry, others surprisingly subdued.
Grey days never looked so sharp
Anna Sawai, who made quite the impression during awards season, opted for quiet luxury in a sleeveless grey Dior Fall 2025 jacket and wide-leg trousers. Polished and pared-back, her only accessory was the Dior CD signature oval bag, which tied it all together with ease.
Lady in red
Miki Nakatani mirrored Anna’s silhouette in a red version of the same look with a skirt. The simplicity was chic, but it’s hard not to fantasise about both of them in slim-fit trousers.
Snow queen chic
Kimberley Anne Woltemas won me over in the white iteration of the Dior Fall 2025 look. The wrapped skirt elevated the whole outfit, making it feel less corporate.
Less is more, but maybe too much less?
Lily James opted for a black Dior coat layered over a black silk dress. Despite the plunging neckline and luxe accessories, the overall vibe felt too muted for Lily.This was fine, but meh.
Velvet dreams
Monica Barbaro brought subtle richness in a silk-velvet jacket and skirt from Dior’s Fall 2025 collection. The look, paired with an embellished bag, was understated but elegant—and perfectly aligned with her personal style.
Neutral, but noteworthy
Sonam Kapoor brought freshness to the front row in a nude printed silk dress from the Dior Fall 2025 collection. The sheer romanticism of the print harmonised with the Kyoto setting, making this one of the evening’s more memorable moments.
Burgundy in bloom
Frankly, with tailoring and texture of Deva Cassel’s embroidered burgundy velvet suit from Dior’s Fall 2025 collection, who cares if it’s Spring?
Cherry blossom in bloom
Isabelle Drummond may have been the most thematically on point, embracing the moment in a kimono-style Dior Fall 2025 set printed with cherry blossoms and dragonflies. Equal parts luxe and loungewear, it was Kyoto perfection.
