  1. Also known as “Little Edo” for its scenic traditional townscape, Kawagoe is definitely worth a visit in Japan!

    HOW TO GET THERE
    It’s only 30 min by express train on the Tobu Tojo Line from Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo. Tobu also offers a Kawagoe Discount Pass to foreign tourists, which provides a round trip between Ikebukuro and Kawagoe as well as discounts at select establishments. There is also a premium version, which includes unlimited rides on select local buses.

    WHAT TO DO
    – Hikawa Shrine – Well-known as a shrine of relationships and matchmaking. Don’t miss the Tunnel of Ema!
    – Kashiya Yokocho – This is the famous Candy Alley. Kawagoe is known for their traditional sweets!
    – Ichiban-gai street – Great shopping street with many nice shops!
    – Tokinokane Bell Tower – Iconic Kawagoe spot! The bell rings mechanically four times a day at 6am, noon, 3pm and 6pm
    – Starbucks Kawagoe – Weaving the traditional with the new, this Starbucks is often named as one of the most beautiful and must-visit Starbucks in the world
    – Kitain Temple – The 500+ stone statues are worth seeing!
