JAPAN TRAVEL: 36 Hours in Fuji City

Come with us to FUJI CITY in the Shizuoka prefecture of Japan! We spent a day and a half here in this little industrial town. Most visitors come here to see Mount Fuji, which you can see from most angles, but I wanted to explore and see what else this town had to offer.

I booked 2 nights at the Toyoko Inn

I loved this hotel because it was a standard 3-star chain that is found in many parts of Japan, perfect for accommodating our family. It was super clean, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was great, and it fit well within our budget, making it an easy booking to make. Hotels are one of my favourite parts about travelling, and places like this bring back memories of the family road trips we took when I was growing up.

Mt. Fuji Dream Bridge had a really cool view of the mountain, however the best view is when you’re on the actual bridge, after you reach the top. You will see a line up of people waiting to take pictures at the staircase but I would suggest going straight up to the top if you’re limited on time.

I’m always my most-comfortable-self when I have a hot drink in hand, so we had to visit a couple of coffee shops!
Keigan Coffee Roaster: I ordered a hot Royal Milk Tea, and the rest of my family ordered lattes and a pour over. The barista was very enthusiastic and knew his coffee.
Sterne Coffee Lab: I ordered a Chai Latte which was really nicely spiced! The lattes and pour over were good too.

Unamasa was so so good! I would recommend it to anybody who likes eel and teriyaki-style sauces. I hope to visit more restaurants like this in the future!

It’s fun to try McDonald’s in different parts of the world, especially their local menu items. And of course, it’s always the late night food option for when everywhere closes early.

I’m happy that we took the time in our itinerary to visit Fuji City, it was a nice break in between the bustling cities of Tokyo and Kyoto.

Thank you for watching and joining our adventure! I will be sharing lots more on Japan soon!
