Welcome to ‘Yuki no Otani’ in Toyama prefecture.

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of the world’s leading mountain sightseeing routes, running through the Northern Alps, a series of peaks with elevations of 3,000 meters. Speaking of spring events, the world-famous “Snow Valley” is a must-see!

In the snow that has piled up on the road near Murodo Terminal, an area that receives heavy snowfall, the road’s location is determined by GPS, and a road is created by gradually cutting away from the top. The approximately 500m section created by the “wall of snow” created during snow removal is called “Snow Valley.” The valley is particularly prone to snowfall due to drifts, and its height can exceed 20 meters!

In the “Snow Valley Walk,” you can walk on one side of the road sandwiched between the snow walls, which has been opened up as a pedestrian walkway. The snow walls seen up close are more impressive than you can imagine! The contrast between the white snow and the blue sky is refreshing.

The “Snow Corridor,” created by clearing snow from the walkway connecting the rooftop of Murodo Terminal and the Tateyama Nature Conservation Center, exceeds 8 meters in height in April, and offers an impressive sight that rivals the Snow Valley.

To see the taller, whiter walls of snow, we recommend visiting in April, just after the opening. The altitude is high and the temperature is still winter, so prepare a windproof jacket. We recommend comfortable clothing and non-slip shoes. If you are worried about getting a sunburn, we recommend bringing sunglasses and sunscreen.
