第391回犬山祭 Inuyama Festival April 5th and 6th, 2025

2025年4月5日、6日の二日間に渡って開催された第391回犬山祭の様子です。
からくり人形を備えた13輌の車山（やま）が針綱神社前に揃う様子は壮観です。からくり人形が技を決めると見物の人達から歓声や拍手が起きて盛り上がります。
夜は車山に提灯が灯され、昼間とはガラリと雰囲気が変わります。江戸時代の雰囲気を残す城下町を車山が進んで行く様子はとても風情があります。お囃子の音色や町衆の掛け声にも気持ちが高まります。
交差点で披露される車山の曳き回しは迫力満点、祭のハイライトと言えるでしょう。
桜の咲くなか歴史ある祭事を見る事ができ、素晴らしい経験となりました。

A few of the moments of the 391th Inuyama Festival, held over two days on April 5th and 6th, 2025. As you can imagine from the word of “the 391th”, the festival has a long history.
The sight of 13 floats equipped with mechanical puppets (they are called “karakuri” in Japanese) is magnificent. When the puppets perform their tricks, the audience happily cheers!
At night, the floats are lit with lanterns, creating a completely different atmosphere from the daytime. The floats parade through the castle town of Inuyama, which retains the atmosphere of the Edo period. It is absolutely one of the kind.
The floats are maneuvered manually by the locals. Don’t miss the turning of the floats at the intersection – it is the highlight of the festival.
It was such a wonderful experience to see the Japanese historic festival amidst the cherry blossoms in bloom.
