Tsumago-juku in Nagano Prefecture was one of the post-town on Nakasendo, a major highway that connected Kyo (Kyoto) and Edo (Tokyo) in old times, whose historical townscape is well preserved. The old inn “Wakihonjin Okuya” built in 1877 has high latticed windows through which the sunbeams radiate upon the traditional open-hearth creating such an incredible effect.
