Okonomiyaki, Anyone? One Night in Osaka
We took the Shinkansen down from Kyoto to spend a couple of days and one hotel night in beautiful Osaka. A tour of Dontonburi was eye catching. After experiencing various wonderful Japanese cuisine in Tokyo, we had to have Okonomiyaki in Osaka. We hit gold in the Temma District and dined on the authentic best. The next day we toured Osaka Castle before heading to Kansai Airport for an evening flight.
Okonomiyaki (Japanese: お好み焼き) is a Japanese teppanyaki savory pancake dish cooked on a teppan (flat griddle). Common additions include cabbage, meat, and seafood, and toppings include okonomiyaki sauce, aonori (dried seaweed flakes), katsuobushi (bonito flakes), Japanese mayonnaise, and pickled ginger.
