Yeah, Corona vs Tourism
Is the time of day of each location consistent to when you went 4 years ago?
I love Japan 🌸 . In-Sha-Allah, one day I'll be there soon.
As I live on Oahu this so reminds me of how it was during COVID vs now. I drove through Waikiki and literally only saw a person or two per block! Beaches were almost completely empty and when I flew to another island I was the ONLY person going through security and there might have been 25 passengers on the plane…nobody within a row of me.
The complaints you hear about things being busy both in Hawaii and lots of other places- they simply are the noisy complainers. For most of us the amount of suffering so many dealt with due to tourism vanishing was something I hope I never live through again.
Interesting idea to compare the same places one in 2021 and another in 2025. 2021 was the year in the midst of COVID 19 and 2025, the problems created by over tourism are being argued.
I did not know that so many shops in Kyoto were forced to close during the turmoil days. Just hope some that survived the difficult days are relieved to see so many tourists there.
About Kintsugi, I wonder if you broke a rice bowl on purpose to repair it using the skill of Kintsugi or the shop have many cracked ones for the clients. Since it uses gold dust, it must be an expensive experience, I'm afraid. (^▽^)/yay
Keep your videos uploading, Hannah san! Have nice days for your touring, both private and non-private.
Hello, this is my first time to comment. It's an automatic translation, so I'm sorry if it's wrong.I'm Japanese and from Aomori Prefecture.I would really like you to visit the cherry blossom in Hirosaki City and the Aomori Nebuta Festival in Aomori City. I think you will enjoy the beauty of nature and the passionate festival.Sorry for the long message. I will continue to support your video.
I have to say, apart from the Fushimi Inari footage and the full streets you show later on in the video, the 2025 scenes did not feel as cramped as I expected! But timing is now everything, I guess. Anyway, I got your new guide and your updated old one immediately because I loved the old one – now if only I could find the mental energy to go and plan another Japan holiday in spite of the chronic fatigue I've developed! This will surely help, though
Bring back Covid😭 or at least ban huge tourist groups
Yep. I was just In Onomichi and Shimanami Kaido during full bloom, empty, hardly anyone. 😁🤙🏽
Absolutely wonderful country and after our recent trip in October I still love to watch these videos knowing I’ve been there and seen some of these sights. Great video as always – thank you and good luck with the wedding
The shots are absolutely stunning! I can't even imagine what a pain it must have been to setup the camera at the same place with the tourists.
Love it!
Really enjoyed this. Covid was a blessing in disguise for local residents to enjoy lots of these sights without the crowds, but seeing the closed shops also makes me sad of how many livelihoods suffered during that period.
Fun fact: at 4:34, I bumped into Jeff Bezos in that rooftop bar last year during blossom season! So you never know who you see in these beautiful places!
Wait I’m looking at the mic where that ring come from? Did he? Just wondering…
ahhhh I miss the covid days in a way….
The cut scene is wonderful and creative. The comparison between two eras is kind of a whirlpool of emotion. As a demophobe, I prefer to pandemic time visiting Kyoto, which is quiet and peaceful.
Do not go to the bamboo forest at night. I thought there were lights but it was a straight horror movie.
殆どのシーンが人が居ない!相当苦労されて撮影したことが痛いほどわかります!素晴らしい映像でした!ありがとう!
Thanks Hannah. I bought the previous guide and I loved it. Excited to read and plan my trip to Japan this year.
Videos like this make me miss the pandemic. Yes it is an awful illness and was deadly to many. But the peaceful quiet world was wonderful. I hate masses of ppl and try to avoid that but that means no or very little traveling for me. I actually visited japan in october 23 (osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Tottori, Himeji, Tokio) and it was wonderful but the masses of other tourists almost killed me… i enjoyed the smaller cities the most. We visited Hokuei / Conan Town near Tottori and enjoyed both Hokuei and Tottori the most bc ist was so quiet and we had fantastic food.
