The Eye Drop hot springs – Kaikake onsen – Okuyuzawa Niigata Japan | 4K Vlog

I stayed at Kaikake Onsen in Oku-Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture.

A famous inn of the Japanese Society for Preserving Secret Hot Springs. In the Meiji era, hot spring water was once sold as eye drops in Kaikake Onsen, and the 100-year-old accommodation building in a village headman-style building that strongly retains the atmosphere of that time remains a precious inn that truly preserves the atmosphere of a secret hot spring inn.

The hot spring is characterized by its overwhelming amount of hot water and lukewarm water. This inn has an abundant source of 450-650 liters per minute, and the amount of water allows you to see the fantastic sight of carp swimming even in the middle of winter.

The lukewarm water, with a temperature of 36-37 celsius degrees, is a supreme bath that you can stay in forever. In winter, you can first warm up your body in the heated bathtub, then move to the lukewarm water and close your eyes to enjoy a relaxing time that will easily make you feel numb for an hour. The open-air bath in winter can be a little cold, but spending time in the lukewarm water of the large indoor bath was a wonderful bathing experience that you can’t find anywhere else.

This inn, which represents the rice-producing region of Niigata, is famous for its delicious rice, and serves the highest quality Koshihikari rice. After soothing your body and eyes with the warm water, you can soothe your body with delicious rice and medicinal cuisine. This is an inn where you can experience the ultimate hot spring therapy.

The inside of the building is beautifully cleaned and does not even feel like a historic inn. This is a hidden inn that you will want to visit again and again. Next time, I would like to slowly enjoy the warm water during the warm summer months.

  1. This Ryokan looks very beautiful and full of history. I like all the scrolls, paintings, helmets and other decoration (like that red "statue" of an eye at the end of the video). The onsen also look great, I however prefer really warm water (and not luke warm water). But with the snow, its stunning.
