Quick tip: You can have your luggage shipped from city to city using a company called Yamato Delivery Service. If you’re staying in the same city, they’ll deliver it the same day. For routes like Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka or any other, your luggage will arrive at your hotel the next morning.😁
So convenient, safe and easy!
Please try eki-ben (train station bento box) next time you are in Japan! There are so many options and you can actually buy them in the little kiosks on the platform. If you visit the shops in the station, you can also buy omiyage (edible souvenirs). Tokyo Banana is the most famous in Tokyo! You can buy omiyage in every prefecture and city in Japan! Domestic tourism is thriving in Japan and it's a work custom to bring omiyage from your travels back to your coworkers and friends. Please try as much as you can 😊🚅
I had also motion sickness on this Shinkansen and I heard of others that had the same experience. I had no motion sickness on the one in Kyushu though. The ride was a lot more smooth on that one
Also I'm so happy for you guys that you got an accommodation that had a Kotatsu. I'm planning on going to Japan again in December and I'm struggling to find out how to find a place with a Kotatsu 🙁 (not going to Osaka again though, otherwise I'd asked the name of the place you stayed at)
The wonders of a bullet train. Japan has great transit. Top five in the world. We loved travelling throughout Japan on it. Claire, have you tried Dramamine , a motion sickness pill?
If that doesn't work , try keeping your head facing forward and try not twisting your head to look out the window too much, deep breaths.. Let's hope it doesn't continue when you get older

In 2004, Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries conditionally transferred Shinkansen technology to China.
However, China now claims it as its own original technology.
This is typical of China’s usual approach.
If you ride it, you’ll immediately notice how closely it resembles the Japanese Shinkansen.
