Air India is relocating its operations in Japan from Tokyo’s Narita International Airport to Haneda Airport and is also increasing its flight frequency. Starting March 31, 2025, the airline will operate four weekly flights between Delhi and Tokyo. Additionally, Air India, India’s national carrier, will establish a more comprehensive codeshare agreement with All Nippon Airways (ANA).

Passengers can easily connect from Tokyo to six major cities in Japan: Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Okinawa, Osaka, and Sapporo.

Haneda Airport is located 23 kilometres from Tokyo, while Narita International Airport is 82 kilometres from the city centre. The change will significantly reduce travel time for Air India passengers, allowing them to reach the city in approximately 30 minutes instead of the usual hour.

Check out the Delhi-Tokyo Haneda schedule before booking your flight:

AI358: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, depart for Delhi at 8:20 pm and arrive in Tokyo at 7:55 am the next day.
AI357: On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, depart for Tokyo at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in Delhi the next day at 5:25 p.m.

Flights booked for travel after March 30, 2025, will go to Haneda. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will operate this route, offering passengers 18 Business Class flatbeds and 238 Economy seats.

The expanded codeshare agreement between All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Air India will allow ANA to use its ‘AI’ airline code on flights from Haneda Airport to six cities in Japan starting April 1, 2025. Similarly, ANA will assign its ‘NH’ code to Air India’s flights to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune.

Travellers can now fly to multiple destinations on a single ticket, with their baggage checked through for the entire journey. Both airlines have established seamless and hassle-free connections within their domestic networks. The codeshare agreement between Air India and ANA began in April 2024, covering ANA’s routes from Tokyo to Delhi and Tokyo to Mumbai, as well as Air India’s route from Delhi to Tokyo.
