OSAKA JAPAN – SUKIYAKI TEISHOKU #japanesefood #visitosaka #japan #osaka #travel
SUKIYAKI TEISHOKU
Sukiyaki (鋤焼 or すき焼き) is a traditional Japanese dish prepared and served in the nabemono (hot pot) style. It features thinly sliced beef cooked or simmered at the table, along with vegetables and other ingredients, in a shallow iron pot filled with a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. Once cooked, the ingredients are typically dipped into a small bowl of raw, beaten egg before eating.
Sukiyaki is generally considered a winter dish and is often enjoyed at bōnenkai, Japanese year-end parties.
Teishoku, which translates to “set meal” or “meal set,” is a popular dining style in Japan. It typically features a well-balanced meal served on a single tray or platter, including several components that provide a variety of flavors and textures in one sitting. Teishoku is commonly served in Japanese restaurants, particularly in casual eateries known as “teishokuya.”
