CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kyoto Ramen opened their doors last month, focused on bringing the authentic taste of Japanese cuisine to Clarksville.

Owner William Yip moved to Clarksville in 2009 when a friend asked him for help at a local restaurant. After years in that role, Yip decided to take it to another level by entering the restaurant business himself. Kyoto Ramen opened on Jan. 9, and Yip said he’s excited to introduce people to what ramen really is.

‘It seems like every bowl represents a city of Japan’

According to their website, Kyoto Ramen’s story begins with a passion for crafting the perfect bowl of ramen, which starts with fresh ingredients. It’s crafted with flavorful broths, as well as noodles prepared with care. “Everything is original from the beginning, nothing is from cans or premade,” Yip told Clarksville Now.

Yip said with every bowl of ramen served, the dish also comes with a story. “It seems like every bowl represents a city of Japan. Some are pork, some are veggie, some are seafood. So, every place in Japan is represented in a bowl with the culture that comes along with it.” Yip said their chefs put their heart and soul into each dish for their customers.

As for his own favorite, Yip tends to go with the kimchi ramen selection, which originates from Korea. He said the bowl has a special combination due to the spiciness of the kimchi and cabbage, along with the flavors from the bone broth and pork belly.

Yip said their menu also includes favorites such as takoyaki octopus balls, squid, popcorn chicken and wings.

In addition, inside their store, is a tree setup to represent many temples in Japan, where people can hang their wishes and prayers. The restaurant also has a robot server located onsite.

Kyoto Ramen is located at 2088 Lowes Drive, Suite K, and the business hours are 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
