The Perseid meteor shower, which decorates the night sky every summer around mid-August, has reached this year’s peak. Many people visited the fifth station of Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture from the night of August 12, and enjoyed stargazing, taking photos and other activities. When a bright meteor appeared above the mountain, voices could be heard from all over saying, “Wow! A shooting star fell!”

Note: In the Japanese text, the speaker extended the last vowel of the word nagareta to indicate excitement.
