Solo Travel in Japan, Day 7 part 4 🗾 Uji, Kyoto & Dotonbori, Osaka 🏯

After exploring Uji’s ancient shrines, let’s go to one of my favorites in Uji—Nakamura Tokichi Byodo-in. ⛩️

The former inn—Kikuya Manpekiro—beloved by artists, writers, and Emperor Meiji and Emperor Taisho, has been renovated into “Nakamura Tokichi Byodo-in.”

Founded in 1854, the company had a long history of tea making. In the store you’d find different kinds of tea served in different hot and cold preparations, as well as different kinds of matcha inspired deserts! 🍦

After enjoying your snacks and the view of Uji town, let’s take the train back to Dotonbori! 🇯🇵

Sometimes, the best way to eat in Osaka is to randomly pick a restaurant. It’s more fun when you don’t know what you’re going to get. 🍽️

Stop by Hozenji temple, pray and splash some water over the moss covered statue of Fudo Myo-o for good luck.🍀

After enjoying the old Osaka vibe of Hozenji Yokocho, I decided to check this nearby random izakaya—Sasaya. Inside, I met a new friend from Seoul, Juwon-dongsaeng. It’s a little hard to get a seat without a reservation, so definitely reserve via tabelog.🍻🏮
