THREE DAYS IN OSAKA | Day2&3 – Universal Studios, Dotonbori (10-Day Japan Series: Osaka-Kyoto-Tokyo)
Welcome to Day 2 & 3 of my 10-day Japan travel series with Traveller’s Bazaar! I’m Quinn, an architectural journalist based in Dubai, and I’m taking you through Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, and a bonus trip to Seoul, uncovering each city through the lens of design, architecture, and immersive lifestyle experiences.
In this episode, I head to Universal Studios Japan, where I explore the mind-blowing Super Nintendo World and get fully immersed in the interactive design of Koopa’s Castle and the Mario Kart ride.
Then I stop by Ippudo Ramen just outside the park — one of the best ramen bowls I’ve had in my life — before making my way to a charming small animal café in Osaka, where I sip coffee alongside sugar gliders, hedgehogs, parrots, and even a rooster that acts like a dog!
From there, I explore the architectural fabric of Osaka’s famous covered arcades — including Shinsaibashi-suji, Ebisubashi-suji, and Namba Walk — leading toward the iconic Dotonbori Canal, with its neon overload, chaotic signage, and historic crab sign at Kani Doraku.
I wrap up the day with a Japanese yakiniku BBQ experience tucked inside one of the arcades, walk back under the glowing night facades, and grab some mystery-flavored 7-Eleven Pringles to end it all on the most Japanese note possible.
Make sure to check out Day 1 if you haven’t already — it includes Osaka Castle, TeamLab Osaka, Shinsekai, and more.
If you’re into design, food, or meaningful travel, you’re going to love what’s coming next.
