  1. Miki uploaded the video on the exact day I am heading to Kyoto 😂 although I already saw most of the big tourist spots last year and this time I'm going for an entirely different reason

  2. I actually like Kyoto. Some neighborhoods are really beautiful and peaceful. Maybe avoid the busy tourist spots.

  3. I loved Kyoto, I did go to some places with lots of people but it was worth it. There is so many beautiful and quiet places in Kyoto that people should branch out to see!

  4. Miki!! Your new hair style is super adorable! ❤ Love it! I visited Kyoto for the first time last year and enjoyed the few days I was there. Luckily, it wasn't high tourist season because crowds tend to raise my anxiety. Definitely would visit again to go to the Bamboo forest and Inari Shrine. Thanks for another great video. Have a great weekend!!❤

  5. I'm so grateful I got to experience Kyoto many times over the last 12 years before the tourist boom…but I did return just last Autumn and avoided the crowds by visiting gorgeous temples and gardens are just wandering the areas on the outskirts of the city and just lesser known…it can definately be enjoyed more peacefully if you know where to go or just zoom in on your maps and go explore 🙂

  6. Japan's tourism is one of the biggest revenue, overseas tourists spend a lot in Japan, promoting growth of income there. Wish people went explore the country side and quiet towns of Japan, but I guess most tourists are only in Japan for a week or two at most so they rather spend it in big cities to enjoy convenience, it's a holiday after all

  7. As a Japanese person, I would not want to go to Kyoto unless guided by a friend, as the huge crowds greatly diminish the original charm and atmosphere of the city.
    日本人としては、大混雑してる京都は本来の魅力や雰囲気が大きく損なわれてるので、友人の案内以外では行きたいとは思わないですね。

  8. Used to go every year, but last 2 years the coverage of overcrowding actually made me not book flights and visit
Maybe going really really early is the way to go though, gotta change how I travel and commit I suppose

  9. It's way too crowded for me. I'll be going to more tranquil places.
I want to visit Japan to see Japan not tourists.

  10. It was very interesting to see that some places are super busy but other places have almost nobody.
I think I could enjoy Kyoto, but only if I got up super early in the morning, maybe.
Thank you for showing us what Kyoto is really like.

  11. I was lucky to be there for the Gion festival in July and went early to these places to avoid the crowd. My favorite spot in Fushimi Inari is Ganrikisha. I stayed 12 days in Kyoto and didn't even scratch the surface of what Kyoto as to offer. I want to come back 🙂

  12. Kyoto City is still a beautiful place but watching this video is already making me overwhelmed hahaha! It was still crowded before the pandemic but afterwards it gotten MUCH MORE crowded when I went back to visit after the pandemic. Nowadays, I visit other prefectures but I plan to visit the more rural parts of Kyoto since it's such a big Prefecture. Plus it's a great way for me to practice Japanese by visiting the less crowded and not so touristy Prefectures with little to no English 😂.

  13. Nice Miki. Kyoto is beautiful, but way too crowded. Already 20 years ago my gf, who is Japanese, said it was too crowded and not worth a stop. There are alternatives with the same charm and nature etc without the crowds and with lower prices. Several cities in Europe have become the same: Prague, Krakow, Venice, Barcelona etc. Almost impossible to move in the streets, just being pushed by hords of tourists. Nowadays I am very picky where I go. Anyways, nice clip! Arigato!

  14. Thanks for confirming my decision to skip Kyoto because of those crazy crowds. I'm currently in Takayama enjoying the Edo-era streets almost all to myself 😃
