KUWANA, Mie Prefecture–A mesmerizing light show at the Nabana No Sato botanical garden here is adding a modern touch to master ukiyo-e painter Katsushika Hokusai’s famed work featuring Japan’s highest peak.

The theme of the main venue is “Beautiful Mt. Fuji.”

Using the latest LED technology, the display features a 35-meter-tall LED centerpiece modeled after Mount Fuji standing above a sea of lights.

It showcases 13 scenes themed on “Red Fuji” and other works from Hokusai’s “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” series.

A 100-meter-long tunnel of light called “Sea and Cherry Blossoms” has been added this year.

The event’s popular 200-meter-long tunnel of light, the on-the-water illuminations and other usual highlights are also offered.

The lights are lit after sunset and until the venue is closed.

The event runs until June 1 next year.
