Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus (KSCC) and Hawaiian Ensemble visit Hiroshima : 2025 Japan Tour
On March 24, 2025, the Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus and Hawaiian Ensemble had the honor of visiting Hiroshima, Japan. As they walked through the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, they were moved by the somber reminder of the devastation Japan endured. In the spirit of aloha, the group wanted to offer a special gift through an informal performance, sharing their song and dance at the Children’s Peace Monument. However, just as they were preparing to perform, the rain began to pour, threatening to cancel their plans. It seemed impossible, but by the grace of Ke Akua, with only 20 minutes until showtime, the skies cleared. The students and staff quickly set up and, despite the odds, were able to share the beauty of our culture with all who gathered. As a final tribute, the students hung 1,001 paper cranes—crafted by our keiki and ‘ohana here in the islands—symbolizing a wish for peace in the world.
