I recommend to call the place you want and make an appointment way beforehand. It was my last full day in Japan and that morning I went to 2 kimono rental shops and they were charging $50-$60 USD for just the kimono but they can’t do the hair because I didn’t have any appointment (why would I wear kimono without my hair done?). I gave up the idea of renting kimono and was just going to explore Asakusa but I happened to walk by this shop which was near a bakery and pharmacy shop. I gave it another try and they were able to do my hair and kimono dress up for about $37 USD which was awesome. It was really hard to find them on google map since they’re not big yet. They’re very nice and genuine people, give them a try if you guys are in Asakusa.
