Belly of the Beast follows Friend of My Enemy, in which Naoe teams up with Akechi Mitsuhide in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This guide fully covers the mission, which sees you following the commands of a bratty noble.
Meet with Ise Sadaoki in Kyoto
Belly of the Beast at last takes you out of the Izumi Settsu region and into Yamashiro (a level 10 region) far to the north. Open your map to find the Objective marker near the center of the region, the location of Kyoto — one of the largest cities in the game.
The best way to travel to Kyoto is to hop on your horse, open the map, and place a Marker to follow with Pathfinder. Your trip north is long and winding. It should take you by Toji Temple in southern Kyoto. There, you can create a fast-travel point and earn a Knowledge Point.
Your destination is in the southern section of Kyoto on the bridge furthest east.
Look for Sadaoki under the bridge.
Speak with him, and he’ll grumpily relay the plans. Your target, Oda Nobunaga, is barely guarded in Honnoji Temple. To get inside, you will bum a ride on a delivery cart. But to not rouse suspicion, you must track down delivery documents to fool the guards.
You can pick any dialogue option in the conversation with Sadaoki.
Your task in Belly of the Beast is to infiltrate a compound, retrieve the papers, and return them to Sadaoki.
How to Find the Papers
The game gives you three hints on how to track down the delivery documents:
They are in Yamashiro They are at the center of Kyoto They are west of Nanban Temple
Kyoto is a massive city, so if you haven’t explored it at this point, the location of its center can be a bit of a mystery.

You can also use a Scout to check the area for the exact location of the objective.
Head north to find Nanban Temple to the northwest of Honnoji Temple.
Just to the west of the temple is a small, walled-off compound. This is where you need to search.
The quickest way to your target is to approach the complex from the south. Use Observe to spot the blue objective marker, which is in the large building against the southern wall.
Climb the rock near the road.
Now, climb the southern wall to get a good view of the building in question.
You have multiple ways to enter, but the easiest method is to sneak up to the guard by the door and take him out. Be sure to keep an eye out for other guards along with workers who will report you if they see you wandering around.
You can also find a way inside by crawling through the hole below the deck and emerging via the trap door in the house.
Head inside the building and use Eagle Vision to spot the lone samurai guarding the papers in one of the rooms.
Slide the door open and take him out.
Take the papers on the table under the window.
Return the Papers to Sadaoki
With the documents in tow, return to Sadaoki and his entourage under the bridge in southern Kyoto. Sadaoki accepts the papers before handing you your next task: meet Mitsuhide near Shoryuji Castle.
After the cutscene ends, so too does Belly of the Beast. The next mission is Temple of the Horseman.
