I remember my last trip, I was trying to get on the Narita Express (NeX) from the north Marunouchi entrance. I swear I had walked for 15 minutes going down until I could find the platform. Tokyo Station is massive and I'm not surprised there are those weird connecting entrances.

Interesting to think that this was meant to be for the Narita Shinkansen. It was also cool to see the other end of the track from the Nartia video you did that was meant to be the shinkansen as well!

You should a special report on the entirety of Tokyo Stations' entrances and exits, as well all the platforms' entrances and connections, and then follow all the underground passages that go across to Ginza from Tokyo and show people around the world how it's incredibly connected with subterranean walkways
That station depth underground really gave me Seoul Metro vibes.
Last time I traveled to Tokyo Disney, I stopped at Yurakucho (coming in from Shinagawa) and walked to the outdoor Keiyo line entrance on the other side of the International Forum and it was SO much easier to navigate than stopping at Tokyo directly, I think this hidden entrance might have been even easier!
The return from the Keiyo line though, I decided to just go up to the Yamanote line and the escalators felt ENDLESS! Like, you are just rising from the depth of the Earth! And I was tired after a whole day of Disney on feet that hurt… Tokyo Station is insane.

Ornithophobia fear of pigeons🐦⬛ I remember being in that area of the station, and I got lost for 5 minutes, but eventually, I found my way to tokyo station . So many stairs, at least there were the moving escalates . The posters on the walls are still the same as your on the moving walking escalates. 😊
Tokyo station is one gigantic, incomprehensible maze, much worse than Shinjuku if that's even possible. I've popped out of it at completely unexpeceted locations so many times already.
This does make me wonder though — is transferring to Keiyo from Yurakucho actually the better option? I can see it actually being a shorter walk, though you don't get the auto-walkway.

I know that nobody is going to believe that 16 y/o boy want to learn Japanese and live in Japan because of trains, but you know.. USA killed their trains, UK killed their trains, Germany killed their trains, so Japan looking like it didn't, like in parallel reality I didn't even notice Japan, I sent documents to British university instead of learning Japanese.
I swear that some stations in Tokyo are more deeper than when I think smth in my mind.
How different cultures can be. I'm German and used to work behind the counter at a big library, with a mostly female staff. We could see the yard from our place, and two pigeons were getting it on… My female colleagues all watched with great interest and cheered the bridegroom on, "Yeah! Get up there! You can do it!"
The Keiyo Line and Rinkai Line were originally envisioned as freight only lines. As the demand for Chiba bound trains grew on the Sobu Line and with the development of the Tokyo east coastal area, they decided to make them into commuter lines.

I had to use the Keiyo line at Tokyo station a few too many times. Booked a hotel with friends at Shiohama in Chiba for a good deal, thinking that the direct connection to Tokyo station would negate not being in Tokyo-to. It was a fun lesson on how labyrinthine Tokyo station is – heck even traversing between Marunouchi and Yaesu without going inside the fare gates is a challenge.
I have to echo your pro-tip for using Ueno station instead for the northbound Shinkansen. The station gets as deep as Tokyo but it's still not as contrived an effort to navigate. The fewer choices for unique ekiben and souvenirs is the only point I have to dock from Ueno.

Just love those kind of "hidden" places in Japan. Did you know that there is another hidden entrance to Tokyo Station? And you need to be really quick if you want to take a look! It is located on the Yaesu Route of the Shuto Expressway, named 八重洲乗客降り口 – Yaesu Passenger Exit – and is located directly underneath the Yaesu Shopping Mall that directly leads to Tokyo Station. It is designed as a drop-off lane for as many as two (!) cars, and you then need to go through some odd-looking steel doors and walk up the stairs only to open one last steel door that leads you to Yaesu Shopping Mall. But never ever try this leaving your car behind, as you will never ever be able to get back there, as all the doors are one-way and cannot be opened from the other side, adding to the scariness of the whole route.
In order to conduct some major construction work, Yaesu Route will be closed down from April 5th for at least 10 years.
That “desolate” entrance kind of reminds me of some of the abandoned stations of the Long Island railroad in New York, that same creepy feeling lol

Did you know that you can continuously walk underground from Higashi-Ginza station to Tokyo station? You start at Higashi-Ginza station exit 6 or A7 and then walk through the stations Ginza, Hibiya and Nijubashimae and then reach Tokyo station. The underground walkways extend even to Yurakucho station and Otemachi station. The latter with exit C2b is the furthest you can walk inside of this maze. You don't even have to buy any tickets for this underground hiking tour.
The interconnected stations around Tokyo Station probably form the largest underground city in the world.
The green bird is "Mejiro(Japanese White-eye)". Japanese white-eyes are protected birds by law. Catching one without permission is punishable by law. Violation of the law is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 1 million yen.
