When April comes around, it’s time to pay up in Japan.
Road tax payment needs to be made between April and May.
According to the Joint Service Vehicle Registration Office (JSVRO) on Camp Butler, servicemembers, civilians, and other Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) personnel can pay the annual road tax for their personal Y-plate vehicles at the locations listed below.
Please note that payments need to be made in Japanese yen only. Checks, credit cards, and U.S. dollars are not accepted. Insurance offices will let you know when you should return and receive your road tax receipt and decals.
Plus, mini-car and motorcycle taxes must be paid at local city, town, or village offices between 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. To get a road tax decal, bring your tax receipt, valid J.C.I., P.D.I and title to the JSVRO (Bldg 5638 Camp Foster).
All vehicles not de-registered before April 1 are subject to road tax payment.
