[Japan Trip 2024] Mt. Fuji & Kawaguchiko, Shy Fuji hiding behind thick clouds, 富士山, 河口湖

We visited Kawaguchiko (Lake Kawaguchi) in November, 2024. Lake Kawaguchi is one of the five lakes that are located at the base of Mount Fuji and is the most popular one in terms of tourism. November is in the midst of the fall foliage season in the Fuji Five Lakes region. We also hoped to see a majestic view of snow-capped Mt Fuji at this time of the year. To our disappointment, we were not able to see either of them, due to unusually warm temperatures they were experiencing. The foliage was just about to turn its colors. The Japanese Maples on the famous Maple Corridor was mostly green. The first major snow fall on the mountain was also delayed. As people say that Mt. Fuji is very shy, hiding behind clouds most of the time. We were only able to catch a glimpse of the mountain every now and then throughout the day.
