The Shinkansen IS NOT that GREAT!!! (Kyoto to Mt.Fuji)

Join Freya and I as we take you on what is many peoples dream trip! In this video we go from Kyoto to Mt. Fuji on the Japanese Shinkansen (High Speed Train). So many tourists love this famous mode of transportation in Japan, so Freya and I needed to figure out why! Is it really as good as people say it is?

Also, stick around after we get off of the train because we will also be taking a bus journey to get to our final stop!
(Hint: It’s an iconic Japan view, that you won’t want to miss!)

  1. The Japanese fast trains are aging now. Japan is sort of stagnating I think, but it's still charming. I loved the Kyoto area. Thanks guys and come back soon, weather is great here in NZ.

  2. Shinkansen is cool to experience at least once. During my second time to Japan we found ourselves not using them as there were better and more flexible options available.

  3. The shinkansen was put into service in 1964, 62 years old. The first Chinese high speed train was put into service in 2007, 18 years old. Of course the shinkansen is "aged", it's old enough to be the Chinese trains grandfather or close to it.

  4. Nice video, you guys look so happy.
When you were in New Zealand Brook, did you see Mt Taranaki? Very similar to Mt Fuji.
Safe travels and keep the kids coming

  5. Another cool vid. We traveled on several Shinkansen back in 2019 and found them enjoyable, all had working wifi. Haven't experienced Chinese trains so can't compare them … way better than Kiwirail tho.
Taking a "rush hour" commuter from Tokyo central was an experience not to be missed … tho once is enough 😊
