Travel Walks: Goryōkaku
Walk around Goryōkaku in Hakodate Japan. This European style star citadel was completed in 1866 to provide a modern forward headquarters to help secure Hokkaido (then known as Ezo). It served as the host of the Hakodate Magistrate’s office and military until the buildings within were removed and it was eventually converted to a park after the Meiji Restoration.
