π Atami plum garden – Shizuoka
Enjoy the latest autumn foliage in the Kanto region. This traditional Japanese garden is a photogenic heaven.
ποΈAtami Plum Garden, said to have the earliest plum blossoms and the latest autumn foliage in Japan, opened in 1886 and is a historic garden in Atami.
Within the 4.4-hectare site, there are 469 plum trees of 60 varieties, including old trees over 100 years old, and about 380 autumn foliage trees, making it a special place where you can enjoy the natural beauty of each seasons.
πThe annual “Momiji Festival” is held during the season when the autumn leaves are at their best.
During the day, there are various events held, such as jazz concerts, free sweet sake service, and workshops to make moss balls from wild flowers. There is also a foot bath spot, so you can spend a relaxing and healing time.
At night, the leaves are lit up, revealing a completely different look.
πΈThe five bridges over the Hatsukawa River are very tasteful and go perfectly with the autumn leaves. The bright red Chujo Bridge is a must-see photo spot! The colorful scenery is so beautiful it feels like you’ve entered another world.
