FINNAIR A350-900 AY67 Business Class – Helsinki to Osaka (Kansai), Platinum Wing Lounge (4K)

After a week and a half of fun in Finland, Estonia & Poland, with more than my fair share of flight cancellations, delays, and a diversion it was time to start heading towards home, with 5-6 days to be spent in Japan first.

Check in, Security and Passport Control were all quick, although the airport was quite busy for New Years Day.

Due to the departure time of the Osaka flight, I was able to use the Finnair Platinum Wing Lounge (it is only open till 5:30pm, all flights after that passengers use the Business Lounge (which is still very good)).

And just like the previous weeks, AY67 was delayed, initially 90 minutes, then 2 & 1/2 hours, ended up being almost 3 hours.

After boarding the aircraft required De-Icing which is always fun to watch, especially on an aircraft the size of the A350-900.

The flight was uneventful, managed to get a lot of sleep which is a bonus.

As we are approaching Japan we flew directly over Incheon Airport (Seoul) where I was only 10 days previously, and then at 19:45 a Fedex B777F flew below us at speed. I spoke with the Captain after arrival, he estimated that aircraft was around 8-10km from our position, and at an altitude at least 5,000ft below us. Also to note I was zoomed in at 120mm (5x) which makes the Fedex plane look closer than it was.

Once we had arrived at Osaka (Kansai) it was a quick shuttle ride to the Main Terminal, baggage collection and Immigration/customs were both very fast.
