π Sankei-en Garden – Kanagawa
Elegant autumn foliage at the classic Japanese garden
ποΈ Sankei-en Garden is a traditional Japanese garden in Yokohama, designed and built by Hara Sankei.
Many historically valuable buildings have been relocated from Kyoto and Kamakura to the vast grounds.
πWhen you enter the garden, there is a large pond at the center, and you can take a leisurely stroll around it. During the autumn season, the promenade at the backside is open. It is a must see spot for the beautifully colored trees along the river decorating the historical buildings. This is surely an experience to enjoy a typical Japanese autumn scene.
β¨The particularly eye-catching βthree-story pagoda,β rising from a small hill, is the oldest structure in the garden. It is positioned so that it can be beautifully viewed from anywhere in the garden, making it a symbol.
π―π΅Since this garden is such a great place to experience traditional Japanese culture, it is extremely popular with foreign visitors. In the autumn season, the gardens are lit up, creating a different, fantastical view at night.
ππΈIt’s also a popular spot for pre-wedding photo shoots. There were many newlyweds in traditional Japanese attire and their families enjoying their day.
