Brief History: Okayama Castle was originally built by Ukita Hideie starting in 1597 and completed in 1603. It is famous for its distinctive black exterior, earning it the nickname “Ujo” (Crow Castle). Most of the castle was dismantled during the Meiji era, but the main keep was reconstructed after World War II. Today, Okayama Castle is a popular tourist destination, showcasing historical artifacts and offering beautiful views of the city.
