Hiroshima: Top spots you can’t and should not miss!
Hiroshima (広島) is a city of strong story — a one of devastation, survival, and hope. In this video, we explore its past and present, starting at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (広島平和記念資料館), where haunting artifacts and personal accounts retell the story of August 6, 1945. We stroll past the Atomic Bomb Dome (原爆ドーム) and the Hypocenter Memorial (原爆爆心地説明の碑), the very spot where history was irrevocably changed. The Aogiri Tree (被爆樹木アオギリ), one of very few remaining trees, continues to grow as a symbol of perseverance. The Peace Flame (平和の灯) burns around the clock, reminding us of Hiroshima’s efforts toward a world free from nuclear weapons.
Other than memorials, we see the city today—alive and vibrant. From just strolling the streets to the tranquil beauty of Shukkeien Garden (縮景園), where one can even feed koi fish, Hiroshima is a city that has risen from the ashes but never lost its memory. We enjoy a nostalgic coffee break at Rue Brasil (ルーエ ぶらじる) prior to sampling Hiroshima’s famous food—rich and full-bodied Onomichi-style ramen at Ramen Akatsuki (尾道ラーメン 暁) and a hot okonomiyaki plate of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki at Okonomimura (お好み村).
