Chiba Urban Monorail Line 1 | Front & Rear View | Keisei Chiba → Kenchō-mae → Chiba Minato

The Chiba Urban Monorail is also called the “Hanging Train” (懸垂式モノレール, Kensui-shiki Monorēru) because it hangs from the track instead of running on the ground like normal trains. It floats above the city, giving a cool and unique way to travel. It is also the longest hanging train in the world, stretching 15.2 km across two lines (Line 1 and Line 2) in Chiba City, Japan.

I have been excited but also a little nervous to try this train because I have a fear of heights! I know it sounds funny, but this was a big challenge for me. To start, I chose Line 1 because it is shorter—only 3.2 km (2.0 miles) long with 6 stations between Chiba Minato Station and Kenchō-mae Station.

Compared to Line 2, which is 11.0 km (6.8 miles) long with 15 stations, Line 1 is much shorter and mostly connects important places in the city.

On the first part of the video, you’ll see the Chiba Urban Monorail from street level, giving a view of how the train hangs from the track above the city streets. This perspective makes it look even more futuristic!
