Tokyo is a MASSIVE city! In all directions it spreads out as far as the eye can see. And within this single city live more than 40 million people making it the largest metropolitan area in the entire world and far larger in population than most countries in existence today. Which begs the question: Why does Tokyo work as well as it does? Because Tokyo isn’t a normal city… it’s a city that works phenomenally well.
In today’s video, Geoff and Alexa hit the very-polite streets of Tokyo to experience all that it has to offer. From Tokyo’s expansive transportation network and tiny restaurants, to its vibrant night life and plentiful parks, the two will see as much of Tokyo as possible and try and experience, first hand, why Tokyo is such a pleasant city to visit.

Hi Alexa and Geoff! Love your channels.

G & L … I love these shows! Your travel and commentary bring life to the places you visit, so keep it up!
For (1), they have a homogenous society and people, with the minimalist of minority international populations. They have a united and common sense of society, discipline, manners, self-respect and respect of others, no induced hatreds and racism, no minority of the tyranny, no foreign and domestic enemies of the State. They are NOT a sludge melting pot (catholic theology), diversity promotions (woke theology) versus cream rises to the top and you work – you eat (Pilgrim biblical theology and Buddhist theology).
(Japanese) "Wa-re, wa-re wa Nihon-jin." We are (all) Japanese. No mention of any hybrid refusenik foreign colonies, anti-Japanese, anti-cultural, anti-civilization, counter-culture groups.
You may notice that people there do not walk around with their food and drinks. But I do recall that seeing a piece of litter was like witnessing a traffic accident in the states.
Fun Fact: Japanese trust their children (and their society) to let them go about unsupervised. In fact they have a coming- of- age ritual where they send their typically 4 year old child on a shopping trip, including riding the train for a few stops, to a grocery store to pick up one or two items, entirely by themselves.
Saw it on a documentary on Apple TV+.

Love ur main channel but this channel is incredible as well. Love the content you and Alexa are making here. Happy to see where the rest of your content goes!
Love your channels. Alexa contributes to it well also. Seems like it’s all becoming more natural. Take care.
1988 when i got out of college, i visited an exchange student friend in Fukuoka Prefecture. I learned so much in two weeks , including the cleanliness of the country. This was my first "real" out of the USA experience. Changed my entire outlook on foreign cultures. Excellent experience. I highly recommend this type of experience.
Can you go to Las Vegas or maybe the new Capital of Egypt?
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences traveling. It is informative and always fun to watch.
How did you ever find your hotel after exploring such a busy, huge and non-English speaking city? Seems amazing!
8:30 Middle Eastern bazars are more like how Japan is. Spain has a bit of that in Andalusia because of how long the Arabs had control there since Granada fell only in 1492
JR and other operators function a lot like Brightline where they also own real estate-which is how they are able to operate in the black
17:10 Geoff didn't do his research
You guys are putting out great content! Love your new channel.
Geoff this was a great video. One thing I would ask you is to PLEASE not call it the Shinkansen "Bullet Train". First of all it's not even a bullet. And second the Shinkansen may be fast but it's not as fast as a bullet by any stretch. It's such an innaccurate and childish way to describe this amazing train. It's a term that the press has come up with and it's really an insult to any adult's intelligence. Why not call it what it is, Japan's high speed rail line, Shinkansen or the Shinkansen High Speed Train. Or just calll it Shinkansen. In France they call their high speed rail TGV or "Train à Grande Vitesse" or High Speed Train. No one calls it the TGV bullet train!
That said you guys are GRRRREEEAAT! I love hearing about your adventures and your narratives. You really do your homework.
Portland to Tokyo must be such a huge upgrade
