⛩️ Kinomiya Shrine – Shizuoka
A power spot protected by a 2100-year-old giant camphor tree.
⛩️Kinomiya Shrine has a sophisticated atmosphere. Very popular, that about 700,000 people visit each year, and is full of benefits such as love fortune, health and longevity, prosperity in business, and financial luck.
This Shrine has a long history, and it is said to have been founded 1300 years ago. Three deities are enshrined.
・”Oonamuchi-no-Mikoto”: God of love fortune, marital harmony, and prosperity in business.
・”Isotakeru-no-Mikoto”: God of tree and nature conservation, and recovery from illness.
・”Yamato Takeru-no-Mikoto”: Hero of ancient mythology. God of victory and success.
Kinomiya Shrine has also been worshiped as the god of abstinence from alcohol since ancient times, and there is no end to the people who come to give up drinking. Many people also pray for abstinence from habits of smoking, gambling, etc.
In addition to the main hall, there are three other shrines on the grounds: Kinomiya Benzaiten, Kinomiya Inari Shrine, and Mitsumine Shrine.
Kinomiya Inari Shrine is especially popular as a photo spot! The rows of red torii gates in the green forest is a must see spot. As the name “Inari” suggests, Kinomiya Inari Shrine was created with the spirit of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. It is said to bring blessings for business prosperity and safety in the home.
🌳✨One of the highlights of Kinomiya Shrine is the 2100-year-old giant camphor tree.
Passing through the bamboo forest tunnel “The Path to the Camphor Tree,” which was created in the image of the Ghibli movie “My Neighbor Totoro,” leads to another world.
A huge camphor tree stands tall, 26 meters tall and 23.6 meters in circumference. This tree is a symbol of eternal youth and longevity, and it is said that walking around the tree once will extend your life by one year. There is also a legend that if you walk around the trunk once, your wish will come true.
Take your time to gaze upon this sacred large camphor tree while listening to the sound of the bamboo rustling in the breeze.
