Tour de Ogawara 2024 Part 1 | Pat the Traveller

Welcome to Tour de Ogawara 2024: an annual cycling event where you get to see the beautiful Lake Ogawara! The circuit starts from and ends at the Misawa side of Lake Ogawara! In this trip, we’ll get to see the lake, as well as other amazing towns and beautiful nature that the lake surrounds! This is not a race, but rather a chill event where you take your time to enjoy and see the breathtaking views that this side of Tohoku Region and Aomori Prefecture have to offer!

Here, I am joined by Rain and Elaijah, where we finally ride together again after a long time! Here, I used my single speed road bike (brand unknown), Elaijah used my stepdad’s Norco MTB, and Rain used my Foxter MTB!

You wanna know a little story? The 3 of us (Elaijah, Rain and I) have actually been working on Elaijah’s bike* for a couple of days to improve its safety and capability. They kept coming to my house so we could work on it (as they lived far away in Oirase Town and I lived in Misawa), but you know what happened? The night they got to my house to sleep over for the Tour/the night we did a final checkup, the tyres were flat, and we could not figure out why, and we were so frustrated, so the following morning, my stepdad let Elaijah use his Norco MTB. I already planned that Rain was to use my Foxter MTB, as he did not have a bike of his own. So that’s that. Our plan for Elaijah to use his newly bought road bike that we worked on failed, but our plan on being at Tour de Ogawara was a success!

*My stepdad sold the bike to Elaijah, as he was looking for a road bike, and I was not using that bike and I preferred my rusted stainless steel single-speed bike over that aluminium Specialized road bike with Shimano Tiagra and Sora groupset.
