  1. Chris, I'm surprised you didn't mention that Sushizanmai is famous for being known as the place that the owner purchase a whole bluefin tuna for $1mil a few years ago! That's why they had that statue of the owner in front of their store.

  2. I love that you post this as my countdown for leaving is in 99 days. I am spending 10 days in the Tokyo area. A trip I've been wanting to do for 20 years. I hope to make the waiting list to be able to tour the tuna auction!!!

  3. I was lucky to visit the Tsukiji fish market just before in closed in 2016 when I visited Japan for the first time! I remember having to dodge all of the busy workers driving their motorized carts around as they transported the seafood!!!

  4. Strawberry mochi is a must on every visit to Japan! So delish!
Chris, if you want a good video, the next time in Tokyo, there is a restaurant opposite corner to Tsukiji(alley across street from the big temple) called Jige. They serve you the entire mid-rib of the Tuna(sized for #in party). It's dry aged for intense flavor, and you use clam shells to scrape between the bones to get the strips of tuna. When done with one side as sashimi you can get the other side made up as sushi. All the other seafood is great too! Hamachi Kama, yum. It makes for great video. Look at the pictures on Google. A few short videos on scraping the meat off the bone. We go almost every visit with ftiends and family.šŸ˜‹ It's really fun to see a big tuna bone come to the table.šŸ˜‚

  5. I thought the entire Tsukiji area (fish auction + outdoor market) closed down and moved, but now i realized only the fish auction moved and the outdoor market stays the same. Is this corrrect?

  6. that soft serve ice cream from hokkaido was probably my most fave, memorable thing… in my entire Japan trip. And I dont even have soft serve that often. It stood out that much.

  7. Great video My Man. Too crowded and too many lines for my liking. Tokyo is FULL of great seafood, I would go somewhere else

  8. Hi Chris. Great walking video of Tsukiji. You made a wise decision on the seafood bowl. I'm sure you left very satisfied with your choice. I miss this place and need to go back soon.I always enjoy the atmosphere and the variety of delicious food to choose from. Never tried anything that I didn't like. I find that the side streets are just as good and sometimes a little cheaper. Thanks for sharing and take care.

  9. I always have a love/hate thing for Tsukiji Market. My suggestion is to go early as possible before the hordes of tourists arrive.

  10. Visited Tsukiji in April 2024: It's overcrowded, overrated, & overpriced. Tsukiji is like Fisherman's Wharf & The Strip in Vegas in 2025.
Good to visit once Tsukiji, but there are plenty of places around Tokyo & the rest of Japan for good & affordable food.

  11. My daughter and I were there in November. So crowded we ended up eating in the small mall at the end of the street, at least we got to sit down. the food was good and cheap. Don't really understand the enjoyment of being pushed and jostled.

  12. I am surprised to see a lot of signs in English. They obviously cater to tourism and English is these days, I think considered the common international language. Thinking about it, I see no other languages written on signs, so I guess English is the international language.
