Tokyo Airbnb Disaster ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’ฉ + How I Found A Replacement

I booked an Airbnb in Tokyo, Japan thinking itโ€™d be a decent place to stay for a bit. Turns out, it wasnโ€™t. As soon as I stepped onto the balcony and saw the state of it, rat poop everywhere, even inside the washing machine, I knew I had to get out of there. The photos had made the place look way bigger than it actually was too, but that wasnโ€™t even the main issue. There was clearly a rat problem, and no amount of cleaning was going to fix that overnight.

So instead of being able to relax after a long day of travel, I had to start looking for somewhere else to stay that same evening. Finding last-minute accommodation in Tokyo isnโ€™t exactly easy, especially when youโ€™re trying not to spend a fortune. In the end, I had to abandon Tokyo altogether and head out to Saitama, about an hour away. Funny how things work out. I came here trying to give Tokyo another chance, but I guess the city had other ideas.

If youโ€™re thinking of booking an Airbnb in Tokyo, the good places get booked up months in advance, and if a listing has no reviews, youโ€™re rolling the dice. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you end up standing in a tiny flat, staring at rodent droppings.

  1. Gosh, what a manky balcony. Even the rats must've been appalled, as they obviously attempted to wash their feet in the washing machine๐Ÿ˜……You made the right decision by going to a different Airbnb.

  2. In the same position I took an รnternet cafeยด I believe they called it, acceptable but a bit odd feeling.

  3. There were multiple instances where I booked Air B&B, show up, step my feet inside, did 180 and left. One in Seattle area. One in San Francisco. It was so bad, I wouldn't let a cock roach stay there. Just had a trip to Japan and I always pick rural areas to visit. Thee sim card I purchased for phone and data was awful. phone worked but data was useless. It was annoying too that the public wifi is shoddy and can only stay on for 5mins at a time.
