Gadsden Mall opened in 1974 with anchors Pizitz, Belk Hudson, and Sears, evolving through major changes. Pizitz became McRae’s in 1987, JCPenney replaced Belk Hudson in 1994, later closing in 2000 and reopening in 2008. Renovations added a food court and carousel. Sears closed in 2018, leaving Belk as the only anchor until Martin’s Family Clothing opened in 2020, followed by Food City in 2024.
