Where are the Chickens? Bike-Touring Japan #16. From Kumamoto to Kagoshima in Kyushu

Japanese Odyssey: a solo female cyclist of advanced years cycles from Soyamisaki, the northernmost point of Hokkaido, to Kyanmisaki the southernmost point of Okinawa.

In this video, she pedals down the coast of Kyushu, has a rather weird incident with a local man, meets some cows, and ponders on the whereabouts of the country’s chickens. The video ends with a visit to the volcano at Kagoshima, an introduction to another cycle-tourist, and a bit of an answer to the enduring mystery of the origins of Japan’s hard-boiled eggs and deep-fried chicken pieces. #Cycling Japan #Biking Japan #Kyushu #volcanoes #chickens in Japan –

  1. I visited a chicken farm in Kanagawa some years ago , not far from Kamakura. Another trip crossing Kyushu from Oita to Kumamoto I saw one inland from the city of Kumamoto.
