Can Wagyu be Affordable? 2 Budget-Friendly Options in Tokyo!

Known for its marbling and melt-in-your-mouth texture, wagyu, or Japanese premium meat, is one of the most luxurious in the world. This means wagyu is typically expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. Today, Shizuka takes you to two affordable wagyu restaurants in Tokyo: Ushi ni Kanabou in Azabujuuban and Shibuya Ushihachi, which has an amazing view of Shibuya Crossing, where you can grill your own meat. Even better, you can reserve these two restaurants completely in English!

What makes wagyu different from other kinds of meat, you may ask? Wagyu refers to four types of Japanese cattle and over 200 brands (including Kobe beef, Matsusaka wagyu, and more), which all undergo strict standards to be labeled as such. The result? Buttery, flavorful and tender beef unlike any you’ve tried before, and a must-try while in Japan.

  1. Shizuka, sweet honey! no need to read my comment and expose our love, just please contact me and let's live the intense romance that is waiting for us in Japan♥

  2. My stomach was growling while you ate those delicious wagyu meat Shizuka! But I did have Yukhoe at a Japanese restaurant In Beverly Hills called Yazawa. The Yukhoe was absolutely delicious! Thanks for the video Shizuka and I hope you'll read my comment on your video!

  3. Id just sit and watch you eat wayu😅😊😊 my wife says you're 🔥 😅, but raw beef dish, many times in thai and lao cuisine, called raw beef laab

  4. Hello!!! I've been following your channel for a few years and it's wonderful. As you know, Brazil has the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. It would be great to see our influence there, Brazilian-Japanese restaurants and bars. Thank you and good luck.

  5. 11:43 The green onions wasn't fresh at all. It was just dry and probably from the fridge or freezer. How u dare to serve this to Shizuka sama?

  6. I never got the whole dip it in egg yoke. I guess Americans do eat steak and eggs. I guess that's the japanese equivalent. Great video as always.

  7. The Hire-oissant and the Shibuya crossing looks like fun, seeing all dat wagyu makes me want to say "Umai!"

  8. Question for Shizuka: What things do you do to help improve your hosting skills?
Your videos are more entertaining and feels more natural hosting than others or other channels.

  9. God loves you and sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die as payment for our sin on cross. God Jesus Christ became a man, crucified, died, buried, is risen, will return to judge all. all have sinned by breaking God's law, deserve death and eternal torment in lake of fire. God did all to save us from sin and hell. what must we do to be saved? repent, believe, obey God Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour to be saved. this is truth and gospel. Amen.

  10. Social media has seriously made me so bored of things like wagyu beef and bla bla bla. Literally can't avoid seeing a hundred clips, shorts and videos about it everywhere you go. Steaks in general bore me now because all I think of when I see steak anywhere is complete knothead influencers banging on about it all the time.

  11. When you make reservations, do you reserve the entire restaurant, because most of the places you visit look empty.

  12. Great production. Your show does travel food shows right on youtube. It isn't just about watching the host eat food but feels like being there and learning about the food and culture. Very good editing and pacing.

  13. USHIHACHI Kiwami….That view oh my! On my list now, if I ever make it 🤤, that wine's legs looked a bit week, but if you enjoyed it I'll shut my mouth. Visiting the crossing has always been a sore spot but now it isn't, thank you😘

  14. There is a small chain called “Butasute” that has an A5 Wagyu beef bowl lunch special that is only 3300 yen ($21). It’s not a ton of food but it’s very good and a heck of a deal at current exchange rates.

  15. Thank you Shizuka for doing such a great video on AFFORDABLE Japanese cuisine. I think so many of your admirers want to visit Japan but are put off by the high costs of dining (and hotel) costs in Japan. You fulfill a niche by helping us understand that there are reasonable options available. Being a somewhat frequent visitor to southeast asia, I find Thailand and Laos, much more affordable food experiences because the costs are much lower than Japan. But your videos make going to Japan a lot more tempting.

  16. Eat some at home . Retail price is at around 250 $ per kilo so for being really well served (more than in many restaurants) like 250g per person ( a half pound ) it will cost you around 60/70$ per head and no need to be a chef to prepare it at it is the best at its simplest way of cooking it .
And with the big saving get you a nice bottle of wine you would not get being out . I like white so I usually drink a Pouilly Fuissé with it but for the red a Chateauneuf du Pape or a nice Chianti will do the job …guaranteed !
