Kegon Waterfall (華厳の滝)
Kegon Waterfall is one of Japan’s highest and most beautiful natural lakes. Its water flows from Lake Chuzenji. And the water from Lake Chuzenji falls 97 meters straight down to the below rocks.
Lake Chūzenji (中禅寺湖)
Lake Chūzenji is also called Sea of Happiness. It is a scenic lake at the foot of Mount Nantai which is Nikko’s sacred volcano. About 20,000 years ago, Lake Chuzenji was formed due to an eruption of Mt. Nantai.
Lake Chūzenji ‘s high elevation keeps the area cool and comfortable. That attracted foreign embassies to build recreation villas along its shores in late 19th to early 20th centuries.

Yunodaira Marsh
Yumoto (湯元) is a small hot spring town and consists mainly of ryokan with hot spring baths.
If you visit northeast corner of Yumoto onsen, you will find Yunodaira Marsh.
This wetland is the source of the waters used in the Yumoto Onsen hot spring district .
Yudaki Falls (湯滝)
Yudaki waterfall is located on the southern edge of Lake Yunoko. It is 70 meters in height and 110 meters in length.
The Yudaki Waterfall also known as Yutaki and Yu Waterfall. It’s a pretty unique fan shaped waterfall near Yumoto Onsen (湯元温泉)
The Yudaki Waterfall (湯滝) drains Lake Yunoko, and is considered one of the “Famous 5 Waterfalls of Nikko.
Ryuzu Waterfall (竜頭ノ滝, Ryūzu no Taki)
Ryuzu Waterfall is located on the Yukawa River that flows into Lake Chuzenji. It is One of Nikko’s great waterfalls.
The water hits the large rocks violently and at the base of the falls where a huge rock splits the waterfall in two and the shape that resembles the head of a dragon. That’s the reason of the waterfall name Ryuzu (dragon head).
Akechidaira Ropeway
明智平ロープウェイ
Akechidaira (明智平) is located on top of the Nikko Daini Irohazaka Route.

The observation deck is about three minutes away from Akechidaira’s Ropeway Station, and it takes you to a height of upto 1,373 meters above sea level.
On the viewing platform, you can see a grand panorama of the majestic mountains that surround you, including a front view of Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji, and Mount Nantai.
