Village! Nepal🇳🇵To Japan🇯🇵 by bicycle || S2 E67 || World tour || Japan

Join us as we continue our cycling adventure through the serene landscapes of Okinawa, visiting the unique Ogimi Village and the tranquil Higashi Village. Along the way, we uncover fascinating cultural insights and explore the secrets of this island of longevity.

Exploring Ogimi Village – The Longevity Capital of Okinawa

We started our day early, packing up our campsite and heading toward the famous Ogimi Village, renowned for its exceptionally high life expectancy. Okinawa is one of the few places in the world considered a “Blue Zone,” where people live significantly longer and healthier lives. The village is surrounded by lush greenery, pristine coastline roads, and a peaceful ambiance that speaks to its residents’ calm and simple lifestyle.

Here, we explored the village thoroughly:

Tasting local delicacies, rich in fresh vegetables and seafood.

Learning about their culture of community and gratitude, which is often credited as a factor in their longevity.

Observing the laid-back lifestyle, which emphasizes balance, physical activity, and strong social connections.

Natural disasters like typhoons and earthquakes are common in Japan, and Ogimi’s residents are well-prepared for them, reflecting their resilience and adaptability.

Higashi Village – A Quiet Escape

After soaking in the essence of Ogimi, we continued cycling along the coast road, enjoying breathtaking ocean views, until we reached Higashi Village. This village, less touristy but equally captivating, offered a tranquil escape and a perfect spot to set up our camp for the night.

A Conversation with a Nepali Worker

While in Higashi, we had an insightful conversation with a Nepali resident working in Japan. He shared his experiences:

Work Opportunities: Despite the challenges, he managed to earn 100,000 yen per month while simultaneously pursuing his studies.

Life in Japan: He explained how Japan provides structured opportunities for growth but demands hard work and discipline.

This conversation shed light on the experiences of foreign workers in Japan and their contributions to the local economy.

Why Visit Ogimi and Higashi Villages?

These villages are perfect for travelers seeking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in authentic Japanese culture. From the pristine natural surroundings to the warm hospitality of the locals, the experience is truly enriching.

Stay tuned as we continue to explore Okinawa’s hidden gems, uncovering more stories, landscapes, and experiences.
