Driving in Japan: E42 & E26 Expressways from Wakayama to Osaka Sakai
In this video you can ride along on the E42 Kisei Expressway and E26 Kinki Expressway from Wakayama to Osaka in central Japan. The E42, one of the few expressways in Japan still being expanded, ends here. The E26 forms some outer beltway of Osaka, Japan’s 2nd largest city after Tokyo. The network of expressways around big cities in Japan is very impressive and has far less traffic than you would expect. Tolls are high and public transport is generally more attractive depending on the use case.
What I remember from driving here is that some kind of locusts or Japanese insects that inhabit the trees and forests along the expressway are so loud that you’ll hear them easily over the engine sound and radio, windows closed. Very interesting.
